Session state has nothing to do with your authentication session, so the calls to Session.Clear, etc. are unnecessary and unrelated.
Checking for the cookies "FedAuth" and then "FedAuth1" etc is brittle and you should be relying upon the SAM to do that cleanup properly. I think it's best to identify why the call to the Signout isn't doing what it should.

Cool, thanks for that. I will keep you in the loop as i will be working with this flow for a future piece of work. It may have been an issue on my side, (I'm still getting my head around everything)
