Is there a way to call neurosky without having to call that block?

end

on neurosky, :eeg => :handle_eeg
end

What I have in mind is to call it like:

n = Artoo::Neurosky.new

n.egg

=> the hash with the egg data

Any thoughts?

You can't directly call the neruosky and request data from it, you have to wait until it emits data, and react when it does so.
