However I have successfully done so manually with no problems and have used one of the resulting drivers successfully.
I don't believe this restriction should be in place

Thanks for the link. By the same merit, I would suggest that the PR that introduced the restriction should be required to provide a link that states that only specific OS versions work.
According to [https://support.apple.com/kb/DL1888?viewlocale=en_US&locale=en_US] these drivers work with "Mavericks and later". I've searched high and low and cannot find any alternative drivers that would be better suited or any reason for this.
None the less, I have copied this cask into my own tap and modified it to remove the restriction. It's at guardian/devtools/apple-hewlett-packard-printer-drivers
for anyone following in my footsteps.

“Mavericks and later” would work to remove the restriction on this cask, yes. @ytbmulder Did the page change since your submission?

@vitorgalvao I missed this message, sorry about that. According to the url
, the following is stated:
Post Date: Oct 24, 2017

System Requirements
OS X Mavericks and later
Based on the post date, Mojave was not yet released and therefore we decided to restrict this cask using the depends_on
stanza.
However, multiple users of this tap seem to use this cask. Would you like to remove the restriction?

Yes. Whatever makes it factual with the page.

The page states support for Mavericks and later, but no explicit support for Mojave.

“and later” covers that. It doesn’t need to explicitly say every supported OS name.
