Hmmm I didn't though that, I think the togglemethod is a great idea. For the pause issue, we could add a .data('countdown-pause', true/false)

Hello pal, I added a toggle method to the master, also I had a second though about assign a data attribute and didn't want to pollute the DOM.
I think that if you really need this feature you could manage the state by yourself, once the countdown always starts running.
