We can organize the posts by editing new_post_name setting in _config.yml. For example:
new_post_name: :year-:month-:day-:title.mdto make posts sorted by date.

What if the setting is new_post_name: :year/:title.md?
It seems the generator does not like folders (and thus does not recurse inside them).
