Good point! Can you try out https://github.com/downloads/alexcrichton/hermes/Hermes-1.0.6b.zip and see how it works?

I love the great and fast support that you're providing for this app!!! I almost wish nobody else finds out about this application so that it can always stay this way :) (almost...it's too good to keep to myself ;) ). I love the name as well BTW.

It works well, but I would also like to add that there should be a notification when you change the state from paused to playing.

I think for now I'll leave it with just songs being played. Right now you can only trigger play/pause yourself, and it seems a bit odd to notify you about something you just meant to do.

I'm glad you like it though!

True, but I usually use the media keys to play/pause, so I don't know/remember what song is playing when I resume it later. Perhaps there should only be a notification if you use the media keys (and possibly if Hermes isn't visible at that time)?

That does make sense, and seeing it implemented I think I like it. Is this what you were thinking of?

Hmmm I was actually thinking (and I believe this is how most other music apps do it) there is only a notification when you resume playing, not when you pause. As you said, it seems a bit odd to notify you about something you just meant to do. Also, the notification is usually the same one as the one that is given when a new song starts playing (i.e. the title of the notification is the title of the song, and it shows the artist and album as the message of the notification). Telling you that playback has resumed seems somewhat redundant.

And one last minor thing - it would be nice if when you clicked on the notification, it opened a Hermes window.

Good ideas! I like those changes, and I've implemented them. I'm gonna try to take care of the always play-on-restart issue before I throw out another build, so I'll let you know when I've got that resolved so you can make sure this is resolved
