Are you sure this wasn't a network problem at the time? I just downloaded 1.0.21, and it sees that there's a new version just fine.

It's been something that I was checking for the past week between my work and home locations since I kept getting the INCOMPATIBLE_VERSION error. I was pretty anxious to have it working again and checked pretty frequently within that time. However, I could have been wrong on it being 1.0.21, I might have had an earlier version (I believe it was build 210).

If you press apple+, it should show a preferences dialog with the version number there, which one does it list?

Wait, wrong shortcut, just go to About -> Hermes

I can't reproduce this, so I'm going to close this. Feel free to open if you get some more information about this.

Hey there, just happened again for me. I was running 1.0.22 and wasn't alerted that 1.1.3 was released.

Were you clicking on the "Check for updates..." menu item or waiting for the automatic notification?

mjuarez avatar mjuarez commented on July 19, 2024

I was specifically clicking on the check for updates menu item.

Could you try out this build and look at the preferences for software update? Just wondering if anything is out of line there...

mjuarez avatar mjuarez commented on July 19, 2024

Wasn't able to check since it looks like the 1.1.4b link you sent didn't work anymore. Downloaded 1.1.4 release to solve a different issue though.

1.1.4 has the same preferences as 1.1.4b, so the software update ones look out of wack?

from hermes.

alexcrichton avatar alexcrichton commented on July 19, 2024

Any update on this?

from hermes.

mjuarez avatar mjuarez commented on July 19, 2024

The software update doesn't look broken on 1.1.4 or prior versions. It just never reported that there was an update available. I thought it would notify me when I have it set daily to when there was updates available. I wound up having to go visit the Hermes site to check whether there was a new version available manually whenever my copy broke.

alexcrichton avatar alexcrichton commented on July 19, 2024

So when you first looked at the update preferences things were all checked and set for daily updates?

mjuarez avatar mjuarez commented on July 19, 2024

Yes, on version 1.1.4 I see this:

Of course, it won't report that there is a new version available yet since there is no build newer yet. So I guess I'd have to wait and see if it'll announce?
