The code currently creates an in-memory syntax tree of the RTF document, and it will run out of memory when the tree gets too large. To support very large files, we would have to format RTF groups to HTML as they are read, creating only partial syntax trees before throwing them away.
This would require a tight coupling between the parser and the HTML formatter, which would make the code much more difficult to maintain. I think the use case for this library does not usually involve very large documents, so I don't think it would be a good idea to introduce such additional complexity.
