I'm not really happy with how the pdf looks at the moment, so I don't want to promote it too much. In the long run I would like to provide several formats for the manual, such as epub and mobi. I just have to figure out how to do that.

sounds reasonable ;)

Enabling it to be ordered on a printing platform such as http://www.lulu.com/ would surely please people which prefer to read books

There is already a link to the PDF on this page:
http://haxe.org/documentation/introduction/
Simon do you want us to get rid of that until it is more ready?
Once other formats are available (or we set up lulu.com) we can add them in the same location.

The PDF displays comments and TODO ;)

The comments and TODO are in my opinion a very good value, particularly in this phase. They make very explicit what parts need more attention and they encourage contributions. Of course they need to be stripped off in a commercial release.

The link is there which is fine for me. We can make it more prominent later once the thing actually looks like a proper PDF.
