yes, we could support this feature with minimal effort. I propose that:

  • we add a /signup screen
  • the /signup screen will prompt the user to enter an email (just an email)
  • the user will receive the invitation email (the same email they get right now)
  • the user will click the link to register (the same registration link they click right now)

As you can see this would use the same general flow, accept the user would trigger their own invitation email :)

This should be disabled by default. I'm also wondering if we should use a command line flag for this. Or if all configuration parameters should be database driven. What do you think?

Wow, didn't think about self triggering inviting - this is great way to do this. I think this should be in settings menu and database, because all settings are there. Startup flags are unclear and they would be hard to pass them in /etc/init.d/.
