I created a FileManagement class for this issue. I had to modify some things in the views, models and controllers to made the call to this class.
The call is made from the controller modelRisk.setBoard(pathToUse)
Only works in Windows. If you want to try it in Linux, you would have to modify line 61 of the FileManagement class. You would have to change the separators "\" to "/".
Please try to use it and let me know if I can close the issue.

There was an issue in the parsing of map files on Linux (the files still have \r\n end of line so should be parsed the same way). I fixed it. in commit ab704eb .
We can now close this issue.
