These two threads should be consolidated -- either this issue or #578 should be closed for the sake of de-duplication and better issue management.

Considering licensing issues with PhysX (nvidia can sue us), it might be a good idea to give this issue some love?

shrugs plGLPipeline is great - but removing PhysX is a bigger issue - DirectX isn't going to get us sued.

I'm not really convinced of that, kaelis, but I still agree - depending on PhysX is a pain.

Btw, why is the "server" label set on this issue? The server doesn't even know what physics are, does it?

Even ignoring legal issues, getting access to the PhysX SDK is a pain in the rear. DirectX you can just download from Microsoft.

Just for clarity, we're talking about This bullet physics engine, right?

Yes, that is correct.

Alright, cool.

I can't make any promises, but I might play around with helping getting MOUL to be cross-platform. The first thing I'm gonna tackle is documenting ways to develop on platforms besides windows so the barrier to entry is lower.

That's excellent!

If you need any info on building for OSX or Linux, stop on by the IRC channel. Some of us have been (partially) doing so already and can probably save you some time getting started on that.

Sweet, what/where are the details for the IRC channel? :)

As discussed in #578, we have finally arrived at a situation where we may possibly be able to update at least to a contemporary version of PhysX. Replacing the cooked data in the PRPs with uncooked data should remove the major stumbling block for both updating PhysX as well as moving to another physics engine entirely.

I believe #578 should be closed and discussion focused here, on updating the Physics engine generally.
