Also, this is almost certainly a Pygments issue, so you will probably have to open an issue there instead: http://pygments.org/. (minted uses Pygments for all highlighting internally.)

But if it's pygments that determines whether the word has to be colorized or not, then excuse me, I am bugreporting in the wrong place. (not very aware of who does what, sorry)

This is due to the way that Pygments does the highlighting. If you put the same code in the HTML demo at the Pygments website, you don't get any highlighting for NoneType either. I suggest that you open a feature request at the Pygments site.

Don't worry about reporting the issue here--that's definitely the right thing to do, since bugs and missing features are often in minted, rather than in Pygments, which is the Python highlighting library that minted provides an interface to.
