It was an iPhone 6, but I've experience it with an 5c and a 4S
What do you mean by viewer ..default cardboard?

from gvr-ios-sdk.

I just tried this on my iPhone 6S, on the TreasureHunt demo. I don't get the trigger action just by nodding my head. I also tried just shake it violently.

Was your phone inside a cardboard viewer? It will fire the trigger event if you touch the screen. So holding it in your hands will do that.

To test when the event is fired, I've added a NSLog in the switch block for the event.

Then by holding the phone by the frame (and not touching the screen) I get the Trigger event when I turn 90 down then 90 up, in about a second. Shaking it fast or randomly does not fire the event.

The same effect also happens when it is in a cardboard viewer (or any headset).

Do you think this "nodding" behavior depends on the selected cardboard viewer?

Where you able to find something about this problem?

from gvr-ios-sdk.

sanjayc77 avatar sanjayc77 commented on June 15, 2024

The event fired when you rotate the phone 90 degree is the "tilt" event. It is different than the "trigger" event, which is fired when you touch the screen.

Unless, there is an issue with the Cardboard viewer, which is accidentally or randomly touching the screen. What is the cardboard viewer model?

Event by handling the phone with hands without touching anywhere on the screen (holding by the edges), the Trigger event fires in a noding motion.

I'm using the Default viewer. Do you suggest using a different viewer ?
