I'd say, opacity doesn't matter much for CLS as long as the dimensions of the images on a page are set beforehand. Consequently, if the image has zero height by default and then expands to its full size, it should be irrelevant if it was transparent or not since it doesn't help with reflow.

@tekatone these issues are for reporting bugs with the web-vitals library, not for asking general questions related to Web Vitals. For that, I'd recommend asking on Stack Overflow.
