The simple/hacky way to get it at the moment is:
dataset.spec().to_json()["metadata"]We could potentially add some sort of direct metadata accessor, though not every driver has a single metadata member in its json spec --- for example, the neuroglancer_precomputed driver has scale_metadata and multiscale_metadata.
