If not factored out, it should at least be listed in the existing documentation 
as a
requirement.

After additional coding, I find that what I REALLY need is for the dependency 
to not
exist at all.  (It turns out that I need all the GData flavors, so I'll pick up 
the
dep one way or the other, if it exists.  Meanwhile I am space-limited and the 
400K is
a significant chunk of space.)

From GData java client library version 1.14.0, the dependency on JAF and 
JavaMail has
been removed.  It is required only for feeds that include media content (Google
Photos, Youtube and Doclist APIs).
