Thanks @abhich891 for your interest. I don't think this is a good issue for the first contribution as it requires a good understanding of how Flink runs the pipeline. I think @chandrashekar-s has done a significant amount of investigation on memory issues and had a clear plan for addressing this. If you are looking for a first contribution, I think #19 is a good one; in particular FhirSearchUtil is a good candidate to add unit-tests for (I think currently only ~1/3 of it is covered by unit-tests).

This PR #874 has changes to dynamically calculate the required memory for Flink workers and set them via the flink-conf.yaml file. This encapsulates the flink parameters from the user and only exposes JVM parameters to be set by the user.
