i have had a chance to test, initial connection works well, but reconnect was problematic,
to have a reliable, non blocking solution, it should try and reconnect on a regular basis, to cope with Wi-Fi missing when device is booted,

the wifi stack does have a WiFi.setAutoReconnect(true) option, which i will try later

having done some testing , WiFi.setAutoReconnect(true) does not seem to need to be explicitly set. but i think it is worth while .
