Assuming you're talking about a shared search the only difference is that a sharable search has the sharer_id in the URL. You can get that ID by using the "run" link next to the search in your "saved searches" page. Obviously others can only run it if it's got open enough permissions.
I'd think the easier bug here would be to file against bugzilla to put the sharer_id in all the saved search links in everyone's footer.

@clouserw, that's worthwhile, and would solve some of the problem, but right now saved searches is such a broken system, I think @gkoberger and I worked on a few ideas, but I'll talk to @glob and see what he thinks.

I'm seeing a "Short URL" link at the end of query searches. This generates something like http://mzl.la/1D102tC. Don't know when this was added but it seems to fix your issue.
Please reopen if you meant something else.
