Version, Operative system 0.99.30; Debian 11

Describe the bug I have a node with Formatted text. I type " it is displayed correctly, but when i type another " after it, both "" changes into “” Please how to prevent this change while preferably remaining in "Formatted text" mode?

I have the same experience. "" is better than “”. All other Note-taking/ PKM apps or Text editor app are using "" instead of opened and closed “”. So I do not know whether it is necessary or not but I guess many users request to come back to the common "".

So the solution was in Preferences. You go to Preferences (Alt Shift P) > tab Special Characters > find Chars for Smart Double Quotes then replacing “” by "", the same for Chars for Smart Single Quotes if necessary.

As @lamborghinipth already answered, the preferences dialog is your friend @slrslr
But you are running a very old version, you should start upgrading to the latest v1.1.2 for Debian11 that you can find on https://www.giuspen.net/cherrytree/#downl or https://github.com/giuspen/cherrytree/releases
In the latest version you can also disable the smart quotes auto replacement simply un-ticking the option (see screenshot below):
