Don't mind this check output, it is intended for the init script run by Debian/Ubuntu. The only thing that matters is if the start/stop/restart plays nicely with the first link for init script you provided.
The whole gitlab-recipes repository needs a refresh and I am on to it.
I am leaving this open to remind me that the url in guide is broken.
