Class & ID about cmark-gfm HOT 3 CLOSED

This is stripped away by GitHub.com's user content stack as part of our general security flow, not GitHub's CommonMark implementation, which does preserve the class:

Shouldn't the GitHub spec be updated then?

Our spec covers our Markdown implementation and how it's converted to HTML; it doesn't cover our entire user content stack, because that's way outside the scope of just Markdown, and includes things like XSS, caching, cross-site entity links and so forth. There's a lot that happens after we convert Markdown to HTML before it gets shown on the website, and that doesn't fall under the spec.
