Facing the same issue (Fedora 27).
GTG does seem to connect with RTM.
Fyi, tried 'xdg-open http://www.rememberthemilk.com' and it worked fine..
However, even with multiple attempts and Remove/Install the app, it does not sync tasks with RTM.
It did work the very first time I tried it (after auth), but is failing after that..so I now can't see any tasks - no tasks appear though they're very much there on RTM.

I'm working on reforming a community around this project and putting it back on its feet.
This is up for grabs for anyone wanting to see it happen. Please contribute code (or bring in someone who can) to the project for this purpose. I do not use RTM myself and orphaned code rarely gets better on its own.

I had the same experience when I tried out RTM and GTG sync couple of weeks ago. All tasks got deleted.
