The problem of rolling up summaries is that supposing an arbitrary interval of 1h, we might have that metric emitted across many different spans over that 1 hour, so when merging we would have to figure out which span to return.

To clarify, this is exactly the reason why count
and sum
do not plot the metric values on the y
axis and are not queried within bounds. This ticket is meant to be food for thought in case we might want in the future to improve such sample correlations mechanism.
