@rking - hmm, interesting. I had never really thought about this angle but I can see how it might be interesting and of value. I would certainly entertain work along these lines, although I will say that I would prefer to keep the dependencies small (or at least not different by default). ie you should be able to use ANSI/stdout without having to install/require any html related gems. Outside of that it sounds like an interesting plan. Definitely let me know if you have any questions. Thanks!

I gotcha re: low-deps goal.

This week, we'll look into trying this refactoring as a "work" task, and if it doesn't work I'll revisit it later as a "hobby" task.
