Hello,
After deploy UERANSIM and free5gc , Is there any way to perform the speed test using okla speed test or some other application ?
To install speedtest cli on the UERANSIM's machine run (official instructions page):
sudo apt-get install curl && curl -s https://packagecloud.io/install/repositories/ookla/speedtest-cli/script.deb.sh | sudo bash && sudo apt-get install speedtest
To run a speedtest using the default network interface run speedtest
. To use the UE interface (so your connection goes through the free5GC machine), use speedtest -I uesimtun0
.
Moreover , if i want to capture the traces in wireshark , how to do it .
I'm not sure if I understood this part correctly, but perhaps you may run a wireshark/tshark/tcpdump capture on the DN (data network) interface of free5GC (e.g. the interface that has internet access) or on the N2/N3 interface of the UERANSIM machine.
Anyway, as suggested on issue #535 and as per my personal testing, speedtest tests on this setup currently give some erratic results. Depending on your objectives, maybe you should consider using iperf to run the speed tests instead.

Start a Wireshark capture on any core-connected interface, applying the filter 'pfcp||icmp||gtp'.
These instructions point the direction on how to capture the packets generated during the tests contained on that page you linked. The filter suggested will filter only packets that contain these protocols (pfcp, ICMP and GTP) during the capture. More information on Wireshark filters is located here.

So, as I said on my previous message, the results on speed test may vary. I've opened your public results URLs and both tests finished successfully (see the screenshot of one of them below).
As already pointed out on issue #535, the speeds can be quite low. On my personal testing (a VPS hosted on a bare metal server I control), the speeds are sometimes low and I get those [error] bind...
messages too. However, I've noticed that even when you have run the speed test without going through the core/5GC (the second result), the speeds and latency weren't impressive too. This may have happened because of some issue related to your hosting service or that the connection between the VPS and the test server isn't that good.

Hello,
You can use tcpdump
command to capture packets and output to PCAP file.
tcpdump -i <interface> -w files.pcap
Also, if you use run.sh
to start up free5gc, you could also use -cp
or -dp
args to output pcap file in log/
./run.sh -cp -dp
However, we are not sure whether the Xioami 5G-supported handset could be used or not, but free5GC is implemented following 3GPP standards.
