You don't need to yarn in the root directory, as the Readme says:

To start the example, navigate to the examples folder and run the following commands from the terminal:
npm i or yarn
To start the project run
react-native run-ios or react-native run-android

for some reason yarn seems to be creating it there irrespectively.
yarn install v1.6.0.

Try removing the node_modules folder from the root (not in the Example folder).

Hi @chrfalch - are you using nvm /with a specific version of node? this ticket looks similar microsoft/react-native-code-push#1197 - maybe it's a firewall problem...
