Thanks for the report. I see query in the doc's list of parameters for user search so I'm not sure what happened. I'll have a look as soon as I can.

Thanks @fprimex. FYI, I was able to workaround this by just switching to the general search function, which returns the desired results:
client.search(query=f'email:{email} type:user -role:end-user')
In case that's helpful to anyone else with the issue.

Rather than regenerate everything I am just doing a little patch for this one specific endpoint. The following branch / PR works for me. Can you try it?

Tested this branch just now with the script above. It appears to fix this issue for me. The request it composes now has a properly formed query, and Zendesk returns the expected results. 👍
