This will be fixed in the v0.5.x branch because forever files will start being stored in ~/.forever/ as opposed to /tmp/forever/ which should fix the permission(s) problems. Until then you can probably circumvent this by passing in an explicit log file which the user has permission to:
forever start -l myfile.log bootstrap.js
from forever.
