The problem is in currentDate check in message_listview.dart:
replacing this portion of code
if (currentDate == null) { currentDate = widget.messages[i].createdAt; showDate = true; } else if (currentDate.difference(widget.messages[i].createdAt).inDays != 0) { showDate = true; currentDate = widget.messages[i].createdAt; } else { showDate = false; }
by this
if (currentDate == null) { currentDate = DateTime(widget.messages[i].createdAt.year, widget.messages[i].createdAt.month, widget.messages[i].createdAt.day); showDate = true; } else if (currentDate.difference(DateTime(widget.messages[i].createdAt.year, widget.messages[i].createdAt.month, widget.messages[i].createdAt.day)).inDays != 0) { showDate = true; currentDate = DateTime(widget.messages[i].createdAt.year, widget.messages[i].createdAt.month, widget.messages[i].createdAt.day); } else { showDate = false; }

@timkanurmamatov Can you do a PR for that ?

I just did some tests and I didn't see any issue when using millisecondsSinceEpoch
int (available on DateTime) in createdAt field.
However, when using dashChat with inverted: true
it doesn't work as expected because the messages are in descending order.

After more testing and looking into the code I was able to reproduce it and the issue was simple as @timkanurmamatov shown and this is fixed in my PR.
There is still some issues when loading more messages, probably because of the way the list builder works. I'm not sure how to fix that but my PR will already improve a lot the date builder when merged.
