Hi,
The optimization space (and the space of the instrumented function) is indeed not the same as your initial function.
You need to convert the recommendation to your initial function space:

It is a bit confusing (you are not the first and probably not the last to be confused with this), but for now it is the simplest way to do it (new ideas are welcome for discussion).
