I tried this today and it worked with VS2019 on windows 10
I just used vcpkg, installed sdl1 and zlib, and used the fille>new>project from existing code wizard and added the AUTO_DETECT_PLATFORM define.

Due to lack of time I cannot maintain VS and XCode. I am switching the project to CMake
from another-world-bytecode-interpreter.
