I have made up a debugging binary of the top of the code trunk: https://github.com/euphy/polargraph_server_polarshield/blob/master/polargraph_server_polarshield_beta.cpp.hex that has a load of noise in it to try and shed some light.

With the latest release, 1.10 it started working. With Polargraph 1.7-1.6 it doesn't. It just draws lines whatever your setting is.
With 1.10-1.9 drawing - the debug message is:
"you probably won't get any detail in this.
Max density for penSize: 0.00, rowSize 148 is 1"

sorry, missed the question. I think it can be closed. It is is mainly a wrong configuration...
