The first lines in $USER.org are:

#+begin_src emacs-lisp
  (starter-kit-load "python")
  (starter-kit-load "misc-recommended")
  (starter-kit-load "org")
#+end_src

Did I miss something in the instructions?

Oh, I see. It's a feature, not a bug. You're not providing the code activated by default, so why provide the elisp? Makes sense. :D

Hi,

Perhaps it would be worthwhile to add a line or two of elisp to all of the starter-kit-* files which could check if the required packages are installed and if not, could then use ELPA to install them with something like...

(dolist (package required-packages)
      (unless (package-installed-p package)
        (package-install package)))

I'd be very happy to accept patches to this effect.

Thanks for pointing out this potential stumbling block.
