winget install -e --id GnuWin32.Make works for me, seems like a more reliable way to get the right package

Looks like GnuWin32.Make is the first package in the winget source, but if you've used the Microsoft Store the msstore packages appear first...

I didn’t have to install winget, it just worked from powershell
it looks like winget just returns the first matching application which in this case is now “make your pet talk” - not sure how to explicitly tell it to install “make”

The install command is supposed to install the package you provide as an option. e.g.
https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/package-manager/winget/install
could you check the version of winget you have? Maybe it's a specific one?

Looks weird. I've tried this command to install "make" - winget install -e --id GnuWin32.Make and it worked for me. Can you give it a try?
