You are correct that the spec details TLS communication on a default port of 5085. We do not currently support this functionality. As far as I knew Impinj readers did not support TLS, however doing some digging it appears like it does:

Octane 5.6.0

  • Encrypt LLRP communications using transport layer security (TLS) protocol version 1.2
  • Self-signed certificate (no client validation)
  • Inbound connections only
  • Cipher suites
    • TLS_RSA_WITH_3DES_EDE_CBC-SHA
    • TLS_RSA_WITH_AES_128_CBC-SHA
    • TLS-RSA_WITH_AES_128_GCM-SHA256

I am not sure if we were to disable certificate checking and set the protocol and port properly if it would work or not.
