If it wasn't too much work I think it'd be great to support components that are a single value. However, I think that may be a bit tough with our current design for createComponent.
For now I think just suggesting that people use value as the property name for the single value is the way to go. As you warned, I don't think a helper function is a good idea since it could get confusing with non-single value components.
