+1 I couldn't agree more, anything pulling in config like ~/.netrc should be part of duo(1) only

Just a thought, by pulling it out of there, would that break people using the JS API?

I suppose the reading from ~/.netrc could just be moved to the duo core. That way, both the CLI and JS API still have access, and we simultaneously remove magic from here.

yep i agree. just release 0.6.0 of duo-package (thanks for the 0 weirdness, semver) and have a bit less magic happening ;)
