Why not use CSS modules (see discussion here) so it all ends up logically scoped and we don't need to think about any of this at all?

Is that so? Wouldn't the CSS be automatically scoped to the component? I.e. we could make names that only make local sense?

Yes, it does give unique names to avoid conflicts.

That's what I meant - we still need some structure in our naming, although looser since we don't have to worry about name clashes.
I will open a PR to show how it would look and if we like it we switch over.
