I added a branch demonstrating the behavior we see in real-life applications with crowded nav bars.
I think if we use Javascript to add the nav ul .left and nav ul .right width and trigger the menu if it's bigger than the window width that would solve it.

This one warrants a look. Right now we have @media query break-points that trigger a hamburger menu. Ideally you'd get the menu when you run out of space, not at a certain screen width.
