It's actually a combination of both. There are two clicks (or user interactions) involved in the authentication. One is the SSO sign in, and one is the authorization. Only if Google Chrome remembers your SSO login and you have authorised the app in the past, the authtoken is not retrieved. In any other case, there is atleast one click necessary, and thus, the app functions normally.

This is not about the user having authorised SSO in the past. It is about being logged-in in SSO in Google Chrome. When you are getting this issue, go to Google Chrome and logout from IITB SSO, which will fix it.
