I'm thinking about using the species id and customer id to point to species and customers in the species and customer collections. Maybe instead of number, make them object ids like I did in the plate model and the sample pointer array

In the project schema there are two keys at the bottom just kinda hanging around in there: speciesId + customerId. Joe, should we put those into a normal object like the rest of the file or is there a reason why they're just in there?
