I'll add a check for this, in the meantime you could use:

(-> (client/get ...)
    (update-in [:body] #(json/decode % true))

Which is slightly shorter than manually keywordizing the keys.

What status code are you seeing from the server? Is this with :throw-exceptions set to true or false?

In this case the response code was 403, but I believe it would occur with any 4xx 5xx status codes. :throw-exceptions is true and the correct exception is thrown after removing :as :json. The server does return the correct Content-Type: text/html;charset=UTF-8 indicating the content is html, so :as :auto would probably work here also.

Should be fixed in master, lemme know if you have any more problems with it.
