If you put a debugger in, what does it show the res as being? I don't have enough to understand what the problem is here because the portion of the code pasted seems like it should work, but I don't know what else is happening in the test.

cy.wait('@apicall').then(res => { 
    debugger
})

I tried adding debugger inside the then block, as you said.
nothing actually happened.

When('Filter by id', () => {   
    estimate.getbutton().click()
    cy.wait('@estimatebyuser').then(resp => { 
        debugger
   
    })
})

I added the debugger like this, but when I ran this test, this is how the console looked like:

You'll need to open the browser DevTools to see the code pause when adding debugger. What does the devtools panel show?
