corresponding Forge

Just to note it doesn't need to match exactly, just be 'newer' (until forge updates and breaks Sponge)

Generally we recommend using the latest version of forge that works, and reporting to our(Sponges) bug tracker should Sponge be incompatible with a newer version of forge.

However, AMP doesn't do this - it simply downloads the Sponge Forge jar and selects it as the server jar.

Previously there was command line arguments you could pass to the SpongeForge mod in order to download and setup and run a Sponge Forge server, but in order to have a better working relationship with Forge, and to not appear as a fork of Forge it was decided to take it out.

It's likely that the AMP Minecraft panel simply hasn't been updated since then.

Have separate server types, they are very different and there is demand for both.

I'd suggest using the default forge handling for spongeforge, as it's technically just another mod for forge, letting the user manage spongeforge versions themselves

With the addition of the 'Custom' server type it's a lower priority right now.

@ryantheleach is indeed correct on why this is happening. The plan is to either only support the Forge version, or have separate server type entries for the forge and vanilla versions.

Any updates on this?

Sponge Vanilla is now its own server type within AMP. Forge doesn't need its own since it's just a forge mod, so falls under the normal forge option.
