The topic of proxing and balacing load between containers has been discussed at length in #31. For your seconds question; skydock merely created DNS rules in skydns for your containers. It will depend on the mechanism using the DNS rules and routing traffic to determine this. But, if a container is taken down skydock will remove it's DNS entry in skydns, so it would be natural to assume any proxy leveraging DNS would not route traffic to it after it's gone.
