no, unfortunately, we don't support nested objects or JSON like objects or JSON like strings on the server for event segmentation.
The results you experience are because of security concerns and escaping those values so they would not work as JSON anymore. And unfortunately, currently, we don't have plans to support those too, due to the underlying data structure (which is also JSON data in the database, so we make sure they won't collide or break the existing scheme).

If you need the list to be as a single value, I would suggest concatenating the list values with some string, like underscore (and order them if you need the list of the same items in different order to produce the same segment value)
If you need to be able to check/break down data by specific list item values, then you can either prefix list as keys and use them as segment keys or dispatch separate events for each value in the list.
