Hello.
I'm not aware of any changes between those 2 version that would affect that aspect.
In both versions the appVersion is accessed the same way:
https://github.com/Countly/countly-sdk-android/blob/master/sdk/src/main/java/ly/count/android/sdk/DeviceInfo.java#L185

" the client does not send the _app_version field anymore"
where do you see that, could you share a screenshot of that?

could you as an experiment run this line somewhere in your app and tell me that it is returning:
"context.getPackageManager().getPackageInfo(context.getPackageName(), 0).versionName;"

Could you please enable SDK logs and then them over after slightly using your app? They would be from the moment that the SDK is initialized.

I'm really sorry, this was on me. Enabling the logs helped me. Thank you.
