Did you install and have "redux-thunk": "^2.2.0" in your package.json?
And are you using it in your client/index.js like so:

import {createStore, applyMiddleware, compose} from 'redux'
import thunkMiddleware from 'redux-thunk'

import reducers from './reducers'
import App from './components/App'
let store = createStore(reducers, compose(
  applyMiddleware(thunkMiddleware),
  window.devToolsExtension ? window.devToolsExtension() : f => f
))

... <App />

I've seen that error before when redux was not installed or the middleware was not applied.

This is late, but are you sure you mapped the dispatch to props ? or maybe what @emilyparkes mentioned ?
